ABOUT JACKIEJackie Gorman naturally bloomed into natural healthcare after solving her own challenges with chronic illness by working with inspiring practitioners, and in turn developing a curiosity of how she could help others.
Her story started in high school when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The family turned to changing their diet, based on her mother's research of the problems with the standard American diet, and the importance of healing from cancer with food. The principles learned from cooking healthy foods, nutrition education, passions in food policy, and the essence of care-giving/ creating community permeated Jackie's education in college at Loyola University Chicago. After graduating college, she went off to host and plan food festivals and private dinners on Martha's Vineyard (along with farming part time). It was a different education in food and set the foundation of a dream to go to Ballymaloe Cookery School in County Cork, Ireland. This beautiful 100 acre organic farm hosted a foundational localvore education spanning from soil to plate. When she returned to Martha's Vineyard, her health started to decline, but in a much different way than her mother's. She was a fraction of the person she graduated college as - depressed, anxious, foggy, moody, skin irritations, and the list went on and on. |
